If you didn’t know it yet, Millennials are obsessed with avocado. We are unabashedly, wholly devoted to our undying love for this nutritious food item. According to some, Millennials are slow to buy homes because of avocado toast. While that may seem like an exaggeration (is it?) it’s clear that avocados are being enjoyed and sought out (and not just by millennials ). Americans are spending nearly $900,000 a month on avocado toast, according to data from payment company Square. Whether you are a brunch spot, diner, or upscale restaurant-this creamy ingredient is versatile and can be applied to many dishes. Avocado sales are rising quickly so the time is now to tap into this booming market and use America’s obsession to your advantage. Here’s how you can feature the trendy food product on your menu.
Breakfast: Caprese Avocado Breakfast Toast
If you are a brunch spot, you are severely missing out if you do not offer some version of avocado toast on your menu! Give the people what they want! You can do an assortment of recipes with avocado toast that do not require much labor. Here’s a simple recipe that provides a unique take on the avocado toast craze. The ingredients are simple: mozzarella, basil, tomatoes, eggs, and avocado! Remember, presentation is everything so plate it accordingly (you want it to be insta-good).
Who needs a house when you can have avocado toast, am I right?
Lunch: Avocado Watermelon Salad or Sandwich
Most people immediately think of toast when deciding how to add avocado to their menu. Like we mentioned earlier, this product is versatile and can be used in many ways. Include it in a tasty salad or a hearty sandwich. An avocado watermelon salad is easy to make. You just need avocado, radish, onions, watermelon, feta and mint. Avocado doesn’t always need to be the core ingredient of a dish. Smashed avocado can be a great substitute for unhealthy mayo on a mouthwatering chicken sandwich.
Dinner: Avocado Tacos or Grilled Salmon Topped with Avocado
A great dinner option that uses avocado would be a taco dish. Crispy avocados with mango salsa, red onion, and chipotle mayo in a warm tortilla makes for a delicious meal! If you want a more substantial dish, add it as a topping on a spicy carnita taco! A fancier dinner option could be grilled salmon topped with avocado salsa.
Dessert: Avocado Ice Cream
What? Avocado ice cream is a thing?! If you haven’t gotten the memo yet, the theme of this blog is that avocado can become all of the things. If you are craving a healthy dessert this is a perfect option. Plus, this menu item will be intriguing to your customers that enjoy taking risks. (Tom Brady is a big fan.) The recipe is as follows: coconut milk, avocados, lemon juice, and brown rice syrup. Make your avocado ice cream even more delicious by adding some Hill & Markes toppings.
The demand for avocados is incredible. This beloved item is likely to increase sales and traffic to your restaurant. Subway announced it was allowing customers to add avocado to sandwiches in outlets around the country and traffic increased. People *literally* pay extra for guac (we’re looking at you Chipotle). It works! This green fruit is tasty, healthy and popular. So pass the guacamole because avocados aren’t going anywhere!
