Meet Your Sales Rep: Neil Deutschman

Is Neil Deutschman your Hill and Markes Sales Representative? Or are you just curious about the high caliber of Staff we have in Hill & Markes in general? Whatever your reason join us for a quick Q&A with one of our Reps as he explains some of the great projects he's done so far, what motivates him to excel every day, and how he got started.
Question: Neil, how about we start off with you telling us a little bit about yourself.
Answer: My name is Neil Deutschman and I am an account representative in the Western NY/Buffalo region. I started my sales career about 27 years ago. I was in the food service industry and a sales rep came up to me and said that you have the personality set for sales.
Question: I can see that! What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of sales?
Answer: I enjoy golf. Living in Buffalo can be tough with our professional hockey team or professional football team. But some of my other interests are nature, travel, and family.
Question: That is awesome! So, how long have you been here at Hill & Markes?
Answer: In January it will be 6 years! What a great family company.
Question: Yes we are one big family! Being a sales representative, what do you think motivates you most?
Answer: I tend to motivate myself… my customers also. My motivation is finding the ability to solve their needs.
Question: Yes! Hill & Markes is all about finding solutions and best practices for our customers, which is what makes this such a great company. So, besides what motivates you, I am interested to see what you think is the most important trait in a sales person?
Answer: I don’t think there is just one trait that makes a great sales person. You have to exemplify professionalism. Listening to your customers is very important. Practice honesty, persistence, and the ability to get up when get knocked down. I tend to be old school. You can count on me. I will be there for you.
Question: I love that you are dependable for your customers. Clearly, you are obviously very customer- focused. What would you say is the most rewarding thing about working in sales?
Answer: The money is good (LOL)! But seriously, it’s seeing the customer appreciate all that you do for them.
Question: You have been here for about 6 years now and you mentioned that it is a family business. Why do you enjoy working here?
we are a close family with so many different personalities. We always help each
other out and we care about each other. I am truly living my dream.
Question: I love that. You are living your dream. So the last question I have for you is… what Hill & Markes product are you most passionate about?
Answer: Well, my passion is food service disposables. Starting out in food service 42 years ago, I realized people need to eat! Finding that unique item so that the customer can deliver their product to the consumer is extremely satisfying!
